May-Day Challenge

People who know me (in real life) know that I have some weight issues. I've gotten to the point where I tell jokes about myself to put people at ease (which really does the opposite, I know). It's just that I want people to know that "I know" I am fat. There it's said. I know it and now it's time I do something about it.

I am tall at 5'11-3/4" and I can still hear the words of my high school basketball coach, Alice Witte, telling me, "Karen, it's so easy for you now, but if you ever stop exercising...you'll gain weight. And the older you get, the HARDER it is to take off." I remember rolling my eyes at the mere thought of ever being heavier than my 148 lbs of graduation. I wish I had listened to Alice....because I have more rolling on me now than just my eyes. (see how I just slipped that in there?)

So, here it is...I need to lose 100 lbs during this next year. It will probably take me longer, but I figure I'll set the goal for a year. For the challenge itself, I think 30 lbs is do-able.

Anyone want to join me for a walk in the park today?

I'd love to join you for a walk in the park. Will there be ice cream too? Kidding of course!
My story is up too, so come by and visit- just no snacking while you're visiting! ;)

You can do it! We can all do it together!

When I was in high school I never dreamed I would get fat either. *SIGH*

I would love to join you for a walk, in fact, Rachel my little one and I took one this morning to our little park here in town. It was very nice.

I set my goal pretty high too, but I am not going to dwell on that, I am going to try to keep at it day by day. Hour by hour. After all, no one knows even how many days we have on this earth, so I am just going to concentrate on trying to live healthily from here on out and enjoy life.

Karen, I am so glad that we have this network of women to encourage each other as we take on this challenge to loose weight. Thank you for your vote of confidence and please know that I have confidence in you as well. With God's help during this we know it is possible. (and I know a lot of us will be praying about this). My 18 month old daughter and I just got back from a walk to our community park. You know, every time I finish a walk I always feel great. So, enjoy your walk and have a healthy week. Sincerely, Serving Him

Karen...you SO crack me up! I'm also jealous of your height! I've always wanted to be 6 foot and wear a size 10 shoe. Instead I'm 5'6" and wear a 9.

I'm in this challenge with you girl!

I have been thinking a lot lately about how I need to lose weight! Augh! I had lost 27 lbs, but then have gained back about 12 - 13 of that. :(

Which edge of Texas are you on?? Cause if you're on the same edge I am, I would walk with you! Only I'm 5'2" so that might be a little awkward. ;-)

Congrats on your weight loss goal! If you want some more support, you're welcome to come play with us over at www.one-weigh-or-another.com
