Exposed - More than you wanted to know Part Trois

This has been one cuh-razy week. I haven't had time to sit down and write one blasted thing and so many wonderful and terrifically funny things have happened this week that I want to share with you. Of course, by the time I get around to sharing them, I will have forgotten approximately half of them, because that's how I am. Forgetful is my middle name...haven't I told you? No, really it's "Lou". Which I never really minded all that much if used in conjuction with my first name, as in "Karen-Lou", but just don't call me "Lou". I feel like I should have a barrel chest, three days of growth on my face, and a tattoo on my arm that says, "Mom" or something. {shudder}

T with Honey asked me "What is your favorite song to belt out when you're all alone in the car? and If you were to be made into a Veggie Tales character what vegetable or fruit would you be and why?"

I don't honestly know that I have a favorite song to belt out in the car now that I have kids. The cacophony from the back seat is usually enough to render me mute. I tend to stay lost in thought to drown out the desperate chorus of "Are we there yets" and the "He's touching me". On the rare occasion that I am driving by myself, I tend to stay more on the contemplative side...I use that time to pray, plan, and prepare. BUT there are times when I love to belt out a tune - in my youth, my friends were FOREVER making fun of my love for the song. Those were the days before Mariah Carey and Celine Dion, but I thought I had some Chaka Khan or (and I know this is REALLY WEIRD) Rick James in me, 'cause I loved me some soul-type singing. Still do. But I also sang other songs - my boyfriend in college (his name was Albin Burris Fulcher III, no really. It was.`) made a new group name for me "Wilson, Phillips, & Fore." I've mellowed with age, however. These days, if I were to belt something out, it would be a gospel song or something of that nature. I sang backup for one of the ladies from our church and have a recording, but I couldn't get it to upload to the pod player - I was totally going to let you hear it.

Now, on to the really important question - if I were a Veggie tales character, I'd HAVE to be a Blueberry (but not the stodgy Madame Blueberry - they'd have to come up with something that had good hair) - because my husband says that I have the eyes of an eagle. And well, we all know that eating blueberries improves your eyesight...you see the correlation, don't you?

City Streams asks a technical question - Normally the blog header has a link to the home page of the blog, but yours doesn't. Is there a reason for this? Maybe there's a home button that I just haven't found.

Well, there is a home button at the very bottom of the page you can use, but I'll try to get that fixed. When I designed my blog, I was so new to css that I didn't know how to put a link on my header (it's not in the regular header widget - it's in the code), but now that I do, I'll try to get that repaired. I've learned so much in the last couple of months about html, css and general design that I now realize my blog isn't as user friendly as I'd like it to be. I will probably be doing an overhaul on it once I get the time. I still love my birdy header, but the shadowed panels are going to have to go in favor of something cleaner (as well as wider).

And finally, from Elaine: How did you and your hubby meet? I know you got married pretty quickly but how did you meet in the first place? What is your favorite fruit and why? What are your plans this summer with the kids?

I love this question, because when I answer it, I always get the "rolling of the eyes" and that "oh my look". We actually met the first time online in November of 2000, at least that's what my husband tells me, and I tend to believe him, because he always tells the truth. I was living in Austin with Katie (who was 3) and working for a small consulting firm doing Training and Development/Coaching work with local clients. I had recently moved there from my hometown up North and was so lonesome for my friends back home that I kept in touch every few nights via IM. One friend was David, (who just so happens to by my husband's best friend from youth). Now, any girl with a little sense just has to looove David, and so I did. He was funny without being crude, flirty without going overboard and just the right amount of cute - we became fast friends, nothing more. One night we were chatting about some deep theological issues (something about angelology) and he involved his friend, whose id was "Therecanbeonlyone".

Now, Therecanbeonlyone was an odd duck to me. He was spouting off all this "Scripture" to back up what he was saying - I was instantly attracted to his mind and we chatted for about 3 hours that night, leaving David in our dust. I never saw him online or talked to him again, and really didn't think much about it, to be honest. Fast forward four months and my daughter was on Spring Break from her little Montessori school - we came home for the week, as my parents were visiting from Alaska and considering building a house here. While here, I met David over at a friend's houseone night for a night of games, food and fellowship, something I had been sorely lacking in the big city of Austin. There were only three of us, so David had called another of his friends to join us so we could play in teams.

When his friend walked in, I was busy attending to Katie in another room, so everyone was already seated when I walked back and took my seat at the table. It wasn't love at first sight by any means, but I was intrigued by this new face at the table and as the night wore on, forgot that anyone else was there. His blue eyes held me, his smile was contagious and y'all - he had HAIR under his ballcap! (sorry...if you know anything about men and ballcaps, you know that most of them are hiding balding heads under them) We had a great evening, the four of us, and I left back for Austin the next day feeling as if there was something missing in my life. Little did I know it was Floy, aka Therecanbeonlyone. Within two days he had gotten my phone number from David and called me and the rest is, as they say "history". We talked nightly after I put Katie to bed - about our goals, dreams, hopes, and we even managed to get some Bible discussion time in. But I still didn't know that he was Mr. Therecanbeonlyone and didn't find out about that until after we were married May 25, 2001. Tomorrow, we celebrate 7 years of wedded bliss life together and my MIL is taking our kids tonight so we can have a real DATE. I am excited beyond belief. You have no idea how long it's been since we've had a date.

My favorite fruit is a Pink Lady Apple. Boring, I know, but true. Sometimes I eat them whole, and sometimes, I slice one up really thin and grill it on a cheese sandwich - yummy.

Plans? I'm supposed to have plans for the summer too? We spend so much of the year planning for homeschooling that by the time summer comes I am ready to throw schedules and calendars right out the window. I have no plans. We're taking it one day at a time. No big trips going on - except for a couple of business trips - one in July and one in August - and we might take the kids on the one in July. Other than that, nothing, nada...zilch. We have thought about going to Six Flags, but we sort of waited too long. Neither of us likes to go when it's 142 degrees outside - the kids don't enjoy it and we don't either.

So. There it is. I think I've answered them all. Thanks so much for playing along, y'all! I had some blog fodder for a busy week that probably wouldn't have had any posts otherwise!

Don't forget the giveway for this month ends on Saturday May 31st! If you haven't entered - what the heck are you waiting for? $33? Seriously...who couldn't use $33 from Target. Just click on the giveaway box up in the right column over there to enter.

Y'all have a fabulous weekend! I'll be offline for the rest of the weekend (as my poor stats take a dive), but I'll be back Monday!

I've been out of the loop for a couple of days. Did I miss a Q&A? I LOVE Q&As!

I also love the husband of you and the hubby. So how do you like his stance on angels?

I JUST read a recipe for a grilled cheese and apple sandwich - I think someone's trying to tell me something. Enjoyed your How I Met My Hubby story - those are always so sweet. :)

I think that is crazy that you didn't know he was the guy you chatted with online! Thanks for sharing that story.

And I LOVE Pink Lady apples too, so yummy!
