So, if curiosity is so wonderful, why are we told--yes, warned off it--when we are very young with that old adage about a murdered feline? What is the rationale? "To keep us safe" might be your first thought, since it does seem to be an effort to keep us from getting killed, or, at the very least, injured. But what does it keep us from most? Taking risks . . . having adventures . . . thinking outside of the parameters that our parents, our families, our communities have determined for us . . . which, of course, makes me wonder what the underlying motive really is for propogating that old adage . . .
