Facing the Giants

About 6 years ago, my husband and I made a promise to one another that we would not bring anything into our home or watch anything that we would not let our kids see or hear -- we just decided that if we couldn't let our kids see it, we shouldn't see it. We even thought about putting a sign on our television that said, "Is what you are watching honoring God?"

We got rid of all our worldly music, movies, magazines...anything that could possibly influence our children in a negative manner. We replaced it with Christian themed music, movies and books. Have we always been 100% faithful to our original promise? No...there have been times we have slipped and allowed things into our home that we regretted almost immediately. It is something we have to watch daily, because the influence of the world is so incredibly strong.

I said all of that to say this....last night, on recommendation of some good friends, I rented this movie. Let me just say...if you have not seen it, you really ought to rent it. It is rated PG -- but there is absolutely no foul language, no nudity or sexual content. The rating is based on the fact that there are "some thematic elements"...hello. They talk about God. Sad that you have to rate a movie PG because it talks about faith and overcoming adversity.

But seriously...it's one of the best family movies I have ever watched. The actors are volunteers, but they do a pretty good job. You just need to follow the story line, which is incredible.

Okay, I'll stop. Just go rent it.
