Since this week's WFMW is about Birthday tips, I thought I'd share with you two things I have found that really work for me.
Don't you hate it when the cake is cut and all anybody is waiting for is a scoop of ice cream? One way I save time is to scoop it beforehand. Place each scoop in a paper baking cup and place the cups in a muffin tin. Place the tin in the freezer, pull it out right before serving and drop the baking cups onto waiting plates.
I used to make goody bags for every little guest that would come, but after tallying up the cost, I realized I was spending somewhere between $5-7 on each bag! Instead, I pick a game (like Uno) or a toy (like a frisbee) and have a bunch in a basket and each child gets one before they leave. I just think this is something they are more likely to use and maybe they'll remember their friend when they play with it.
Do you have anything that works for you? Head on over to Shannon's for more WFMW Birthday tips!

Good tip on the goody bag! I hit the dollar store and the bulk candy aisle, but your idea sounds good.
Pre-scooped icecream! Wonderful idea. I'd seen a Mom/Pop icecream shop in Ohio do that with their "sampler" - a scoop of about 15 flavors in a large donut box.
Super ideas!

I'm loving the ice cream idea! I never would have thought of that, but it really sounds efficient. I also need to rethink the goody bag thing. It definitely has gotten out of hand. I like that basket idea. Thanks for sharing!!
Ooh, I like your pre-scooped ice cream idea!
And great minds think alike with the basket of party favors. I like your idea of putting games in there for the kids!
Thanks for sharing!
Pre-scooped ice cream is a great idea! I've been to parties where they whip out those little cups of ice cream (the kind we used to eat with the little stick/spoon), but they aren't cheap. And this way, you get the flavor you want! I love it!
