Fashion Fiesta Friday

One thing I learned when I was a buyer for Nordstrom is that when it comes to fashion, you don't have to have a big budget, just a tasteful eye for quality, classic clothing. I'm all about the "classic" clothing - because: 1.) It never goes out of style and, 2.)People can't tell that you've had it in your closet for the last 20 years. (At least I like to believe that.)

Eddie Bauer has been my retailer of choice since I left Nordstrom 10 years ago - mainly because the quality of their clothing in unsurpassable, and the fact that they offer TALL sizes in everything helps, since I'm 5'11-1/2". Sure, I long for Nordstrom, but my clothing budget since I've spawned three children has somewhat...suffered. With that in mind, let me introduce to you my wardrobe. (Try not to hyperventilate with anticipation.) So without further ado, here are my FOUR essential summer items:

1. Basic tee in many colors:



2. Basic capri in many styles: (I'm into cargo right now)


3. Basic skirt in various prints and solids:


4. Two basic styles of footwear (casual and super-casual):



And that's it. It gets hot in Texas, but you will never, I repeat never, see me in a pair of shorts. I inherited my daddy's knees - enough said. Same goes with tanks - I think they're lovely on other people. Occasionally, I will go trendy and pair a tank with a campshirt of some sort, but I feel like such a poser.
